4. Installation Instructions

⚠ Before You Begin

Only install indoors. Outdoor installation is not permitted.

Ensure the installation location has a relative humidity within 0–100% (non-condensing).

Install at an altitude below 5,000 ft (1,524 m) above sea level.

Mount between 4 and 6 feet (1.2–1.8 m) above the floor.

Do not mount inside enclosures that restrict airflow.

4.1 Device Registration

  • Scan the QR code on the back of the device or go to https://iot.hyggeapps.com. If you do not already have an account you will first need to create one. After you have logged in you will need to register the device. Locate the serial number on the back of the device.
  • With the serial number located, click the “Register New Device” link on the top right of the “Devices” page and enter in the serial number. Follow the steps on the webpage to complete the registration.

4.2 Wall Mounting

The Hygge Monitor is designed to be mounted on a wall at a height of 4 to 6 feet above the floor. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and capable of supporting the device.

  • Select a location indoors, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and areas of potential water splash.
  • Mount or hang the device on the wall at a height of 4 to 6 feet (1.2 to 1.8 m) above the floor, with cables routed downward. A wall mount is included with the monitor that can be attached to a surface with the included tape or nails.

  • Ensure there is clearance around the unit for adequate airflow. Do not obstruct any ventilation openings.
attach device to the mounting hook

4.3 Leak Detection Cable Placement (Optional Component)

The leak detection cable (white rope with black wires on each side) must be positioned correctly to detect water.

  • Connect the male end of the leak detection cable to the port on the device marked “Leak”.
  • Route the cable downward from the device along the wall to the floor.
  • Lay the white-and-black section of the cable flat on the floor in the area where leaks may occur. This section is the water-sensing element — it must lie flat and unobstructed.

plug the leak cable into the monitor

4.4 Power Connection

⚠ Power Supply Requirement

You MUST use the supplied 5 V, 2A USB wall adapter.

Do not use a power source with a higher voltage or current rating.

The wall adapter must be plugged into a 120 V AC, 60 Hz outlet.

  • Plug the USB-C end of the power cable into the USB-C port on the device marked “5V 2A”.
  • Plug the USB-A end of the power cable into the supplied USB wall adapter.
  • Plug the USB wall adapter into a 120 V AC, 60 Hz outlet.

5. Device Operation

5.1 Powering On

Locate the power switch on the left side of the device. Push the switch toward the top of the device (opposite the cable ports) to turn it ON.

5.2 LED Status Indicators

status light diagram

LED Behavior Meaning
Rapid blinking blue (on startup) Device is searching for a cellular signal. Normal for the first 90 seconds.
Solid blue Cellular connection established.
Single blink blue every 60 seconds Device is connected and operating normally. After ~1 hour, this becomes the only LED activity.
Continuous blinking blue > 120 sec Cellular signal cannot be found. Move the device to a different location.
Orange A solid orange light indicates the battery is charging. Blinking indicates charging issue and to contact support.
Green Indicates cellular service transmissions. Solid green indicates active cellular transmission while blinking green indicates searching for signal.
